The State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services acknowledged concerns raised by passport applicants over the unavailability of A and B Series passport booklets on the eCitizen application portal.
In a statement, the Department said it is aware of the challenges facing applicants and has put in place measures to ensure that passport applications continue to be processed in a timely manner.
“The State Department has instituted measures to ensure that all passport applications are handled without causing inconvenience to applicants,” the statement said.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating travel in line with its mandate, noting that efforts are underway to ensure the availability of all passport series on the eCitizen platform.
While not giving timelines on when the issue would be fully resolved, the Department appealed for patience as it works to address the shortage.
The unavailability of certain passport booklets has in recent days caused anxiety among applicants, particularly those with urgent travel needs, with some reporting delays in completing applications through the online portal.
Many applicants had complained about unavailability of the booklets.
Immigration authorities assured applicants that updates will be communicated once the issue is resolved, and urged members of the public to rely on official government channels for accurate information.
