InMobi has announced the appointment of Isis Nyong’o (Formerly of Google Africa’s Business Development Lead specialising in Mobile partnerships) as Vice President and Managing Director, Africa. She is said to be tipped to drive InMobi’s African business strategy while InMobi is looking to expand in the continent. The position was formerly held by Stephen Newton who has since left.   Google is also one of the key partners of InMobi.

InMobi has continued to witnessed the growth of mobile advertising and that is an opportunity which is still not well exploited. The company released a finding in mid January which showed that Africa witnessed 19% growth in Mobile impressions from October to December 2010.

    Key findings include:

·Africa broke the 3 billion impressions mark to reach 3.3 billion monthly impressions.  This represents an 18.8% growth over just 90 days.
·Smartphones remain relatively nascent in the market.  88% of all mobile ad impressions are on advanced feature phones.
·Nokia strengthens its’ already dominant market position by gaining +2.7 share points.  2 of every 3 impressions in the region occur on Nokia devices.

Prior to Google, those who knew MyJobsEye.Com and did business with them in the early 2000 will remember those salesmen walking with Business cards of Isis Nyong’o. She also worked with MTV Networks. She is aloof though and that might need some correction as her next position will demand alot of understanding and patience instead of arrogance .
