President William Ruto is set to begin a four-day development tour of the Ukambani region beginning Wednesday, October 12. According to the program seen by Kahawa Tungu, the Head of State will inspect and commission key infrastructure and housing projects across Makueni, Kitui and Machakos counties. The tour will kick off in Makueni County on Wednesday where the President is expected to commission the Mikuyu Bridge in Kilome Constituency. He will then proceed to Kibwezi West Constituency to launch the Emali–Ukia Road before concluding the day in Makueni Constituency with an inspection of the Wote Affordable Housing Project. On Thursday, the President will visit Kitui County where he will inspect and launch several road projects. These include the Kamuw’ongo–Kandwia Road in Mwingi North, the Kwasiku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road in Mwingi West, as well as the Ikutha–Mutha Road in Kitui South. He will also preside over the launch of the Chuluni–Nzombe–Mwitika Road in Kitui East. The day will end in Kitui Central where he is expected to commission Ithookwe Stadium and the Kitui Airstrip. Ruto will then head to Machakos County on Friday. His engagements include launching the Kangundo–Mwala Road in Kangundo Constituency and the Kivandini–Miseleni Road in Mwala Constituency. He will later commission the Machakos Affordable Housing Project in Machakos Town. The tour will conclude on Saturday with a meeting bringing together leaders from the Ukambani region. The Ukambani trip comes barely days after the President toured Western Kenya, where he similarly launched development projects and held consultative meetings with local leaders.
