policeThe National Police Service Commission (NPSC) will launch investigations into why the number of police officers committing suicide is on an all time high.

Speaking on Sunday, Police Commissioner Rosemary Kuraru said that the officers could be taking their lives due to work or personal related issues.

“It does not matter what you are going through but do not take your lives using the guns entrusted in your hands”, said Kuraru.

Ms Kuraru added that the officers have various channels that they could use instead of committing suicide.

She, during the thanksgiving service for the uniformed forces in Eldoret maintained that guns should only be used as is required by law.

“The arms are not meant for you to finish yourselves. They have a purpose prescribed in the law,” she said.

“Let us help those we see going through tough situations so that we do not regret when they end up killing themselves.”

“There is no problem that our God can not manage. You must also balance your work, family and spiritual life”,she said.

There have been numerous cases of men in uniform taking their own lives shortly after taking those of their loved ones.
