SafaricomSafaricom is set to complete their Agri-tech program by investing on Iprocure, a Kenyan input and supply chains platform that connects farmers to cooperatives and manufactures.

The telecommunications company started the initiative dubbed ‘Spark Venture Fund’ to support start ups that have initiatives that transform lives. Iprocure is operational across counties in Rift valley and central regions of Kenya but wish to expand across to the western, eastern and coastal regions.

This is the sixth start up that has benefited from the fund; the first start up this year was farm Drive which has basically developed an alternative credit-scoring model based on mobile phones and machine learning, in turn enabling many farmers to have formal access to loans and financing.

Since 2014 the Safaricom Park Venture Fund has managed to help the six start ups in harnessing the power of technology to improve Kenya’s agribusiness processes in Kenya.
