The Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication Dennis Itumbi has apologised to Kenyans for posting unverified information on Twitter.
Itumbi had posted that Deputy president William Ruto’s wife Rachel Ruto had been in Turkana donating foodstuff. He said that the pictures which he posted based on unverified information..
He has since deleted the pictures from his social media pages. The pictures posted by Itumbi were believed to be from 2014.
Here is his apology:
I apologize for images I shared here earlier.
Mama Rachel Ruto was not in Turkana
I relied on unverified images.
This was my mistake and I am sorry.
I have since deleted them.
May the record reflect the true position and my apology too.

Mrs Rachel Ruto also confirmed that she had not been in Turkana donating but had attended a prayer conference at the Catholic University of East Africa.
