Their father, an African American soldier, left the family early in Cole’s life, prompting their mother, Kay Cole, a German postal worker, to move with her sons to the United States.

Cole’s journey into music began during his teenage years in North Carolina, where he developed a passion for rap inspired by artists like Nas, Tupac Shakur, Eminem, and Canibus.
