Jared McCann is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who serves as a forward for the Seattle Kraken in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Born on May 31, 1996, in Stratford, Ontario, he has established himself as a skilled, two-way player known for his intelligence, skating ability, and scoring touch.
McCann was selected 24th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and has played for multiple teams during his career, eventually finding a strong home with the Kraken.
Siblings
Jared grew up as the youngest of four siblings in a close-knit family in Stratford, Ontario.
He has two older siblings, brother Justin and sister Jaimie, along with an older half-brother, Jordan.
All the siblings share the initials J.M.M.

Career
McCann’s hockey journey began in Ontario, where he progressed through youth programs before starring in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with teams like the London Knights.
After being drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, he made his NHL debut in the 2015-16 season.
He spent time with the Canucks, Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leafs before being selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.
In Seattle, McCann has thrived.
He set career highs and franchise records with 40 goals and 70 points in the 2022-23 season, helping the Kraken reach the Western Conference Second Round in their inaugural playoff appearance.
Known for his consistency and versatility as a left winger or center, he has continued to produce at a high level, including strong goal and assist totals in subsequent seasons.
By the 2024-25 season, he reached the milestone of 100 goals with the Kraken, becoming the first player in franchise history to do so.
Accolades
In the OHL, McCann was named to the Second All-Rookie Team in 2012-13.
With the Seattle Kraken, he has twice won the Pete Muldoon Award as team MVP, as voted by players and local media, for his standout contributions in the 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons.
His 40-goal campaign in 2022-23 stands as a franchise record and a personal benchmark, underscoring his emergence as a top-line scorer in the NHL.
