Mary Wambui, the woman killed in cold blood at her husband’s mistress house late January was finally laid to rest on Saturday.
Somber mood engulfed the burial ceremony at her rural home in Mweiga, Nyeri County as hundreds of mourners trickled in to pay their last respect, to a departed wife, mother, neighbour, colleague and a friend.
Among those who had a chance to eulogize Wambui was Joseph Kori, husband to the slain Wambui.
Dressed in a navy blue suit, wearing a disturbed face, Kori had a message to his slain wife whose life was cut short in what many have termed a love triangle.
“My love Mary, it’s hard to accept your untimely death. 11 years ago, when we got into a marriage union, I never knew that I’d never get a chance to tell you goodbye, especially when you were taken away from me suddenly and so shockingly at a prime of your life,” Kori said in his eulogy.
Describing Wambui as a best friend, Kori couldn’t hold back the fond memories he had with his wife.
“As a best friend, wife, and mother of my two lovely sons, I feel a part of me has been taken and you are irreplaceable. Your charm, jovial mood and willingness to assist everyone will always be remembered. I want to assure you of my undivided and unconditional love to our sons.
“Your dream of having two grown, intelligent and God-fearing men will be achieved. I don’t have much to tell you but wish you a happy life with the Angels.

To him, his love for Wambui is eternal.
“As you watch us in eternity, be assured that I love you, my dear wife. Goodbye and rest in peace,” Kori’s tribute read.
Wambui is said to have been killed by Kori’s mistress, Judy Wangui at her Four Ways Junction rented apartment on January 26.
Her body would a day later be found in Juja. An autopsy report shows that the deceased died of strangulation and a head injury.
Kori was released last week after police could not find evidence tying him to the murder.
Judy Wangui is still in custody as investigators dig into the case.
