The Judiciary Human Resources Acting Director L. A Onyango has announced the suspension of medical cover for all judges and Judicial workers due to lack of funds from the National Treasury.

In a memo to the staff, Onyango advised workers to take advantage of the services provided under NHIF cover, since the cover provided by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will not be available as from June 7.

“This is to inform all judges, judicial officers and staff that the judiciary medical services have been suspended effective June 7 due to insufficient funds,” said Onyango.

In the memo, Onyango promised to move expeditiously to resolve the stalemate as soon as possible.

“Robust engagement are under way with both the National Treasury and service provider with a view of reinstating the service as soon as possible. We urge for patience as the situation is being resolved. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” he added.

In 2016, JSC had cancelled the medical cover for its staffers in what it termed as misuse of funds.
