KeNHA warns motorists after flooding disrupts Mai Mahiu–Narok Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) warned motorists after flooding and silt deposits disrupted traffic along the Mai Mahiu–Susa–Narok (B7) Road near Kedong Ranch in Suswa earlier Saturday .

    This rendered the road impassable.

In a statement, the highways authority said the flooding left sections of the road covered in silt, making the route unsafe for motorists.

The affected stretch lies between Naivasha Inland Container Depot (ICD) and Suswa Ranch.

KeNHA said emergency teams have already been deployed to the area and are working to clear the silt and reopen the road to traffic as soon as possible.

    Many motorists were left stranded.

Motorists have been cautioned against attempting to drive through flooded sections of the road, warning that doing so could lead to vehicles being swept away or getting stuck in heavy silt deposits.

Drivers are also urged to strictly follow instructions issued by police officers and traffic marshals stationed along the affected section to ensure safety.

The authority further warned that continued heavy rainfall in the area could worsen conditions, particularly along the stretch between Naivasha ICD (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39).

Motorists who had not yet begun their journeys were advised to use the Ngong–Susa Road as an alternative route to avoid the affected section.

KeNHA assured road users that its teams are working around the clock to restore normal traffic flow and guarantee the safety of motorists using the route.
