Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner (5Y-KZE) flight KQ002 making the maiden trip to New York has landed at the JF Kennedy Airport.
The dreamliner christened “The Zambezi River” departed for the US at 10.55 pm and was flagged off by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On board were CNN’s Richard Quest, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, Kenya Airways chief executive Sebastian Mikosz and chairman Michael Joseph among others.
KQ’s senior most pilot Captain Joseph Kinuthia, with over 40 years experience chartered the flight from Nairobi to New York.

The flight returns later on on Monday, flight KQ003, departing JFK at 12:25 pm on Monday and arriving in Nairobi at 10:55 am on Tuesday, taking only 14 hours.
The 15-hour flight will cut short the long hours spent by passengers in different continents to catch a connecting flight to the USA.
