The “Zambezi River” dreamliner by Kenya Airways making the inaugural non-stop flight to the US has touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The flight landed in New York on Monday at around 14.55 pm Kenyan time after “14 hours and 50 minutes of excitement.”
On board was Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma who said “Flying into New York this morning, we were welcomed by water cannons – and that was quite nice.”
The direct flights will save travelers at least 7 hours spent in connecting flights.

“I know this flight is going to make new things possible — new business deals, new trade, new investment, more opportunities for students to come from the United States to Kenya, and Kenya to the United States,” US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec said shortly after landing at the JF Kennedy International Airport.
Ms Juma also noted that the non-stop flights give Kenya Airways “a vantage point to serve more than 60 million travellers through JFK.”
