Two Kenyans based in Tennessee will be battling for this years Miss Kenya USA crown. The pageant which will be running for the seventh year is meant to create role models among the Kenyans in the Diaspora.

Winnie Aluoch, 27 and Amina Hassan, 20 have both choses to advocate to courses that they have experienced first hand. Winnie Aluoch who was a former house help and farmer has chosen to advocate for education of the Kenyan girl child as she struggled through her school due to lack of finances.

“Even though education is free in Kenya, our girls are still facing a lot of challenges, such as buying school uniform, school textbooks, transportation fees, And if the family do have a little income, they would rather take the boy child to school instead of a female child.” she said,

Amina Hassan on the hand has chosen to speak against bullying which she experienced while growing up. She moved to the USA in 2004.
