Kenyans should judge leaders by their development record, says Ruku

Public Service, Human Capital Development Cabinet and Special programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey, Ruku urged Kenyans to judge leaders based on their development track record and service delivery rather than political rhetoric, saying effective leadership should be measured by tangible transformation in the lives of wananchi.

Speaking at Sessi in Moyale, Marsabit County, during a fundraiser for Sessi Mixed Secondary School, Ruku criticized opposition leaders for lacking a clear development agenda despite many of them having previously held senior positions in government.

He said Kenyans deserve leaders who can demonstrate meaningful achievements and visible progress across the country.

The Cabinet Secretary expressed confidence that President William Ruto will win the 2027 General Election, stating that the Kenya Kwanza administration’s ongoing development projects and commitment to improving the welfare of ordinary citizens will speak for themselves.

Ruku said the government remains focused on ensuring equitable development in all regions regardless of political affiliation or geographical location through continued investment in infrastructure, public service reforms and programmes targeting vulnerable communities.

He further urged public servants to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability in service delivery, emphasizing that wananchi deserve efficient, transparent and people-centered government services.

At the same time, the CS called on Kenyans who are yet to acquire national identification cards to do so, noting that the document is essential for accessing government services and participating fully in the democratic process through voter registration.

Ruku also warned individuals allegedly soliciting bribes during the ID registration process, saying the government will not tolerate corruption or exploitation of citizens seeking the crucial document.

He maintained that registration for national IDs is a constitutional right that should be conducted fairly, transparently and without unnecessary delays or illegal charges.

He encouraged Kenyans who have already obtained their IDs to register as voters ahead of the 2027 polls, saying active participation in elections is key to strengthening democracy in the country.
