Kenyans have thrown their weight behind investigative reporter Paul wafula who has been following the Standard Gauge Railway(SGR).
In an earlier hashtag #standardmediagarbage some of the contributors rubbished Paul Wafula’s findings that stated that Kenyans working at the SGR were facing discrimination were false allegations.
Here are some of those tweets:
#StandardMediaGarbage will not tell you that all organisations face challenges but that matters get complicated when they turn racial.

#StandardMediaGarbage Fact : all the allegations will be judiciously investigated and that action will be taken taken in the best interests of Kenyans.

#StandardMediaGarbage FACT: The picture of Kibera youths hanging on the trains to avoid paying has never left me. Is that what you want to happen to the SGR?

This was countered with the #istandwithwafula hashtag where Kenyans said that the investigative reporters who acted as a voice for the voiceless should be protected.

They condemned the government for threatening the reporter for simply speaking up against ills that were ailing the SGR workers in their own country in a project that was funded by their taxes.
Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans:

In a country with a dead opposition and corrupt legislative arm of government the only hope is the bold journalist who are ready to question the rogue regime #IStandWithWafula

Paul Wafula’s piece highlighted killing of wild animals, Sh1billion monthly expense to run the SGR, racial discrimination, harassment, mistreatment of local workers, and Chinese workers domination.
This claims have elicited reactions from the government with the government spokesperson asserting that the treatment of locals by the Chinese was a way to streamline the mentality of workers to promote order and longevity of a streamline service long after the foreigners had left.
