Kenya’s bus booking startup, BookNow, has secured $75,000 (Ksh 6.5million) from 10 angel investors through 88mph. The investors include businessmen Mahendra K.D. Shah, Ravi Shah, Ritesh Doshi and four other 88mph investors who went in personally as well.

The company will use the funds to expand operations within the Kenyan market by expanding their offerings and hiring more support staff. You can currently book major bus tickets through the BookNow website.

The team of investors currently value “the bus industry in East Africa at $150M (Ksh 13 billion), and is rapidly growing.” BookNow is the second Kenyan startup after eManamba to get into the online booking sector. Most of the booking now are manual and cumbersome. The booking services is in high demand during the major holidays like Easter and Christmas seeing many bus companies and fraudsters exploit the desperation of commuters.
