    Kepkemoi Kibias Appointed Acting CEO of KETRACO

    Kepkemoi Kibias has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

    Kibias brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the power sector, having worked in designing and construction, power system planning, operations, and maintenance.

    He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master’s in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and a Master’s in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering from KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School in South Korea. He is also pursuing a PhD in Energy Studies at Moi University.

    Kibias is a registered professional engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya, a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), and serves on the Nuclear Committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO).

    Before joining KETRACO, he worked at Kenya Power (KPLC) in several roles, including Regional Manager, County Manager, and in Design and Construction, Power System Planning, and Operations.

    In a statement, KETRACO Chairman Mohamed Abdi thanked outgoing Managing Director and CEO John Muoki Mativo for his service to the company.
    “The Board of Directors would like to appreciate the outgoing Managing Director/CEO John Muoki Mativo for his invaluable service and contribution to the company. We wish him well in his future endeavors,” he said.
