Kevin DuBrow was an American rock vocalist who had an estimated net worth of $10 million at the time of his death in 2007. He is best remembered as the longtime lead singer of the heavy metal band Quiet Riot, which rose to international fame during the 1980s.

DuBrow played a major role in the band’s success, particularly with their breakthrough album Metal Health. Released in 1983, the album became the first heavy metal record to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

One of the band’s biggest hits was Cum On Feel the Noize, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over one million copies in the United States.

Kevin’s younger brother, Terry Dubrow, later became a well-known plastic surgeon and television personality who appeared on shows such as Botched and The Real Housewives of Orange County alongside his wife Heather Dubrow.

    Early Life

Kevin Mark DuBrow was born on October 29, 1955, in Hollywood, Los Angeles. He grew up with his younger brother Terry in a Jewish household and spent much of his childhood in the Van Nuys area.

As a child, DuBrow learned to play a 12-string guitar and formed his first band with friends when he was around 11 years old. During his teenage years, he became heavily influenced by artists such as Rod Stewart, Queen, and Humble Pie.

He also admired singer Steve Marriott, whose powerful vocal style inspired DuBrow’s own ambitions to become a rock star.

Before focusing entirely on music, DuBrow worked as an amateur photographer, attending concerts and taking pictures of well-known musicians such as Jeff Beck, Robin Trower, and Mott the Hoople. His photos were even published in magazines like Guitar Player.

    Quiet Riot and Musical Career

Quiet Riot officially formed in 1975 with guitarist Randy Rhoads, who later gained fame with Ozzy Osbourne. The band recruited DuBrow as its lead vocalist, and together they began performing throughout the Los Angeles rock scene.

The band released its early albums Quiet Riot and Quiet Riot II before Rhoads left the group in 1979.

After Rhoads died in a tragic plane crash in 1982, Quiet Riot regrouped with a new lineup including Frankie Banali, Rudy Sarzo, and guitarist Carlos Cavazo.

The band’s third album, Metal Health (1983), became a major commercial success and included hit songs such as Cum On Feel the Noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now. The album made history by becoming the first heavy metal record to top the Billboard 200 chart.

However, internal tensions within the band eventually led to DuBrow being dismissed from Quiet Riot in 1987.

    Later Career

After leaving Quiet Riot, DuBrow formed his own record label and contributed music to the soundtrack of the film Switch.

He later formed a new band called Heat, which eventually adopted the name Quiet Riot again. This version of the band toured extensively during the 1990s and released several albums, including Guilty Pleasures (2001) and Rehab (2006).

During this time, DuBrow also released a solo album titled In for the Kill.

Outside music, he briefly worked as a morning radio DJ at a rock station in Las Vegas.

    Death

On November 25, 2007, Kevin DuBrow was found dead in his home in Las Vegas after friends and family had been unable to contact him for several days. His close friend Glenn Hughes had reportedly been expecting him at a Thanksgiving dinner shortly before his death.

Medical examiners later determined that DuBrow died from an accidental overdose involving cocaine, prescription painkillers, and alcohol. He was 52 years old.
