    Kidnapped man shot and injured in rescue mission in Ongata Rongai

    A man who had been kidnapped by gunmen from his home in Kandisi, Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County was rescued after a clash between police and the said kidnappers.

    The clash happened hours after the victim was taken hostage from his house on January 26, 2026, at night.

    The police said the victim was attacked in his home in Rimpa as he drove in. The attackers forced their way into the house and held the family hostage as they robbed them of their cash and valuables. The attackers had pistols and a handcuff.

    They then drove out in the man’s car with him as the family rushed for police help.

    The car was later traced to the Rangau area where shootout ensued. Police said the attackers escaped with injuries. The carjacked victim was shot and injured in the hand while his car had its windshield shattered and the tires deflated.

    The victim was rushed to a local hospital in a stable condition, police said.

    The hunt on the said gang of six continued on Wednesday, police said.

    Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident where a body of a man was found in KU river in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu County.

    The man was identified as Samson Asisi, 35. The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.

    In the Muoroto area, Kamkunji, Nairobi, a member of the street family drowned in the Nairobi River.

    The man aged 22 slipped and drowned in the water on Tuesday afternoon. The body was later retrieved and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    And police are pursuing a group of people who chopped off the hand of a man in an attack in Oyugis, Homa Bay County.

    The wrist was taken to the mortuary as the man was admitted in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

    The hunt on the attackers continued on Wednesday.
