Kisumu’s Moi Stadium To Undergo Ksh 100m Facelift

Moi Stadium Kisumu will undergo a Ksh100m facelift, the County Government has pledged.

Despite having a playable artificial pitch, the facility lacks many basics like changing rooms, media center, stands among others.

“Our facilities are poor and we acknowledge. The pitch at Moi is awful and ugly. That is why we have set aside KSh100m to start the refurbishment of the stadium.

The new facility will have a shopping mall, cinema complex and it will not only be exclusive to football. It shall host athletics and volleyball as well as many other sporting disciplines,” Alai Achie, the County’s CEC for Tourism and Sports, said ahead of Gor Mahia’s coronation today.

Kisumu and surrounding areas boast immense sporting talents but lack supporting facilities to help nature them.

“The issue of facilities is a big problem. This region is teeming with talent but it is not developing for lack of structures.  We will develop the facilities and we are putting in place the necessary structures,” the deputy Governor said.

Gor Mahia will today be crowned as the 2018 KPL champions at the Moi Stadium.
