Kiprono Kittony, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman, has been nominated as the Hungarian diplomatic representative in Kenya.

Mr. Kittony’s nomination was announced yesterday as Hungary increased the number of scholarships offered to Kenyan students from 50 to 100 every year.

Hungary further pledged Sh. 5 billion for the construction of a cancer centre in Nyeri, a maternity hospital in Nairobi in support of First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s Beyond Zero maternal health project, as well as an irrigation scheme and value addition project in northern Kenya.

Hungary’s Foreign minister Péter Szijjártó further announced a Sh. 9.8 billion in support of business development to support joint ventures between Hungarian and Kenyan companies.

He mad the announcements in Budapest during bilateral talks with Kenya’s foreign minister Amina Mohamed.
