KQ Carelessness Over Ebola Outbreak Forces Korean Air to Suspend Nairobi Flights

KQ has refused to suspend their flights to and from the West African nations which have suffered the impact of the Ebola Outbreak. The national airline has argued that it has the best measures in place to stop the spread but many travellers and now airlines are not convinced.

Korean Air has initiated preventive action by suspending flights to and from Nairobi effective 20th August. That means that JKIA will experience less traffic from them.

KQ is afraid of losing the West African routes to any opportunistic carrier because the route accounts for 25% of its profits. The route is being served by KQ planes 76 times in any single week. That is why KQ is not going to give up without a fight even if it would mean that people will die.

KQ measures are pathetic as it has been discovered that most cabin crew have no updated first aid certificates which they should do every 2 years. The carrier just initiated training for its crew last week after strong push by Kenyans for the airline to stop flights to Ebola hit areas. Most Cabin Crew are now being trained at KQ’s Pride Centre.

Meanwhile, according Reuters, Korean Air has said that it would determine whether to resume the Nairobi flights based on a change in conditions
