Kenya Airways is nowadays very stricts with the requirements that all traveling passengers carry IDs or they not be allowed to fly. So Senator Moses Wetangula was on the 8.30pm flight on Thursday (this evening) when he was informed that he couldn’t be allowed to fly without an Identification Card (ID).
This is the second time in one week Kenya Airways has embarassed people who consider themselves VVIP or the powerful. Last week, former Assistant Minister and Igembe South MP Dr. Kilemi Mwiria was ejected from a KQ flight to Mombasa for not producing a proper photo ID card. The former Assistant Minister was forced to eat humble pie and produce remain at JKIA while everybody else travelled to Mombasa.
Senator Wetangula who is a CORD co-principal was together with other Senators and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro. It is rumoured that Senators and MPs refused to exit the plane in solidarity with the Senators as other passengers were evacuated to the waiting lounge as the issue got sorted.
Senator Wetangula said that his ID was in a bag which his driver already went with to Mombasa. KQ is said to have eventually allowed the MP to fly.
