The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that starting December 1, 2025, all Bank Guarantees will be executed and managed exclusively through the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS).

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, November 18, KRA said the move is part of its ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, transparency and automation in customs operations.

“Stakeholders are therefore advised to ensure that all future Bank Guarantees are processed within the iCMS platform in compliance with this directive,” the notice reads.

The iCMS system brings together all existing customs platforms into one modern and efficient system built on advanced technology. It can easily connect with other internal and external government systems when needed.

KRA says the platform is expected to transform customs processing by aligning Kenya’s operations with international best practices and improving the ease of doing business both locally and across the East African Community (EAC) region.

The system was introduced to streamline customs procedures, reduce delays, improve efficiency, and enhance transparency and security in cross-border trade. It also supports faster cargo clearance through features like pre-arrival processing and improved compliance with global standards.
