The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has set up support centres in all 47 counties, starting April 2, 2025.
This move comes after the placement portal officially opened on March 28, 2025, allowing applications for university, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Teacher Training College (TTC) programmes.
KUCCPS announced that candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) as far back as the year 2000 are eligible to apply for TVET and TTC courses, while applications for degree programmes are limited to the 2024 KCSE candidates.
“Attention to the 2024 KCSE cohort! You can now apply for degree courses via the KUCCPS official portal,” the placement service said.
The application window will remain open for three weeks, with the deadline set for April 21, 2025.
KUCCPS urged all eligible candidates to submit their applications before the closing date to secure placement in their preferred institutions.
The newly established support centres will assist applicants in navigating the process.
“Following the opening of applications for Degree, TVET, and TTC programmes for the 2024 KCSE cohort and other Form Four leavers, KUCCPS has set up support centres in all 47 counties. Applicants who require guidance or advice should visit their nearest institution from April 2 to 13, 2025,” KUCCPS stated.
KUCCPS Support Centres
In addition to these centres, application support is available in all 58 Huduma Centres across the country and at the KUCCPS headquarters located at ACK Garden House on Ngong 1st Avenue, Community Area, Nairobi.
Earlier this year, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba dismissed claims that the government had reinstated cut-off points for university admissions.
He reaffirmed that all students who attained a C+ and above in the 2023 KCSE examination qualify for direct entry to university.
“The government has not reintroduced cut-off points for university admission. The minimum entry requirement remains a mean grade of C+, which will apply to the 2024 KCSE cohort,” said Ogamba.
A total of 264,391 students who met this criterion are eligible for university admission.
The CS further revealed that financing these students will cost the government Sh25.85 billion annually, amounting to Sh100 billion over four years.
