The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has invited applications for the positions of chairperson and four members of its Audit Committee.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said the recruitment is being undertaken pursuant to the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, the Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015, and guidelines governing the establishment of audit committees in public entities.

The ministry said applicants seeking appointment as chairperson must hold a degree from a recognised university and have at least seven years’ knowledge and experience in auditing, financial management or accounting.

The chairperson must also be a member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), possess knowledge and experience in risk management and meet the integrity requirements under Chapter Six of the Constitution.

For the four Audit Committee membership positions, applicants must hold a degree from a recognised university and have at least five years’ work experience.

They must also be members in good standing of a professional body, have knowledge of public service or government operations and experience in risk management.

The ministry said all candidates must demonstrate integrity and comply with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Interested applicants are required to submit an application accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, a copy of their National Identity Card and relevant testimonials.

Applications should be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Application for Chairperson of Audit Committee” or “Application for Member of Audit Committee”.

The applications should be addressed to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, P.O. Box 40326-00100, Nairobi, or hand-delivered to the NSSF Building, Block A, 5th Floor, Central Registry, Eastern Wing.

The deadline for applications is August 25, 2026, during official working hours.

The ministry said shortlisted candidates will be required to present original copies of their National Identity Cards, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during the interviews.

They will also be required to provide clearance certificates from the National Police Service, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and an accredited Credit Reference Bureau.

The Audit Committee plays an important role in strengthening financial oversight, risk management, internal controls and accountability within public institutions.
