Liza Koshy, born on March 31, 1996, in Houston, Texas is a YouTube sensation turned actress and television host.

The daughter of Jose Koshy, an Indian petroleum executive, and Jean Carol Hertzler, an American yoga instructor of German descent, Liza grew up in a biracial household that shaped her unique perspective.

She first rose to fame in 2013 on the now-defunct Vine platform under the pseudonym “Lizzza,” where her short, hilarious videos quickly amassed millions of followers.

Liza is the youngest of three sisters, with her older siblings, Olivia and Rachel Koshy, playing a quieter but supportive role in her life.

Olivia Koshy, born on September 9, 1990, is a development director at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

Now 34 years old, she has carved out a career in academia and healthcare, staying largely out of the spotlight.

She attended Trinity University, honing her skills in a field far removed from Liza’s entertainment world.

    Career

After gaining traction on Vine, where she had over 7 million followers by its 2017 closure, Liza pivoted to YouTube, becoming the fastest personality to reach 10 million subscribers that same year.

Her main channel now boasts nearly 17 million subscribers, with her two channels collectively surpassing 3 billion views.

Her talents extend beyond digital platforms. Liza made her acting debut in 2016 as Aday Walker in Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween, followed by starring roles as Violet Adams in Hulu’s Freakish (2016–2017) and The Explorer in YouTube Premium’s Escape the Night (2017–2019).

She co-created and starred in the YouTube Premium comedy series Liza on Demand (2018–2021), a project that showcased her skills as a producer and actor.

Her hosting gigs include MTV’s Total Request Live (2017–2018) and Nickelodeon’s Double Dare revival (2018–2019).

Recent ventures include starring in Netflix’s Work It (2020) and voicing characters in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021) and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023).

    Accolades

Liza has garnered four Streamy Awards, recognizing her excellence in digital content creation, and four Teen Choice Awards, cementing her status as a fan favorite.
