Lola Kirke is an English-born American actress, singer-songwriter, and author, recognized for her multifaceted career in entertainment and the arts.

Born on September 27, 1990, in London, England, she moved to New York City at the age of five, where she was raised in the vibrant West Village.

The daughter of Simon Kirke, the former drummer of rock bands Bad Company and Free, and Lorraine Kirke, a fashion designer and owner of the vintage boutique Geminola, Lola grew up in a creatively charged environment.

Her maternal grandfather, Jack Dellal, was a British businessman of Iraqi-Jewish descent, and her maternal grandmother, Zehava Helmer, was an Israeli flight attendant.

    Siblings

Lola is the youngest of four siblings, with two sisters, Jemima and Domino Kirke, and a brother, Gregory, as well as an older half-brother, Simon Creager, from her mother’s previous relationship.

Jemima, born April 26, 1985, is an actress and artist best known for her role as Jessa Johansson in the HBO series Girls (2012–2017).

A painter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, Jemima has exhibited her bold, portrait-style artworks in galleries such as Skylight Projects and Sargeant’s Daughters.

Her acting career, initially sparked by a favor for childhood friend Lena Dunham in the film Tiny Furniture (2010), expanded to include roles in Untogether (2018), where she starred alongside Lola, and the Netflix series Maniac.

Domino, born December 17, 1983, is a singer-songwriter and certified doula, blending her musical talents with a passion for maternal health.

She began her music career early, signing a record deal at 17 after being discovered at Joe’s Pub in New York City.

As the frontwoman of the band DOMINO, she collaborated with producer Mark Ronson and released the EP The DOMINO EP, featuring the track “Green Umbrella,” which appeared in Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture.

As a doula, Domino co-founded Carriage House Birth, a New York-based service supporting expectant and new mothers, driven by her own experiences with childbirth.

Lola’s brother, Gregory, maintains a lower public profile, with limited information available about his endeavors.

Her half-brother, Simon Creager, born in 1997, lived with severe cerebral palsy due to complications at birth and passed away in 2017 just before his 20th birthday.

    Career

Kirke made her acting debut in 2011 with a minor role in Another Happy Day and gained early recognition for her supporting role as Greta in David Fincher’s Gone Girl (2014).

Her breakout came as Tracy Fishko in Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America (2015), earning critical praise for her portrayal of a college freshman navigating complex relationships.

That same year, she landed the lead role of Hailey Rutledge in Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle (2014–2018), a Golden Globe-winning series about a young oboist in a New York orchestra.

Her film credits include Gemini (2017) opposite Zoë Kravitz, Untogether (2018) with her sister Jemima, Lost Girls (2020), and American Made (2017).

On television, she appeared in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022) and Starz’s Three Women.

In music, Lola released her debut EP in 2016 and her first album, Heart Head West, in 2018 through Downtown Records, blending grunge and country influences.

Her sophomore album, Lady for Sale (2022), released under Third Man Records, was lauded for its “sparkle-country” vibe, with critics comparing her lyrical prowess to top-tier songwriters.

She has toured with artists like First Aid Kit and released a collaborative EP, Friends and Foes and Friends Again, featuring duets with various musicians.

In 2025, Lola published her debut book, Wild West Village: Not a Memoir—Unless I Win an Oscar, Die Tragically, or Score a Country #1, a memoir-in-essays exploring her chaotic upbringing and artistic journey.
