Lorcan John Tucker, born on 10 September 1996 in Dublin, Ireland, is an Irish professional cricketer who plays as a right-handed wicket-keeper batter.
He represents the Ireland national team across all formats and has been a regular in the side since his international debut.
Tucker grew up immersed in cricket through his family, with his father Barry Tucker, a former player and later chair of Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin, introducing him and his brothers to the game at the local club from a young age.
He progressed through Ireland’s age-group teams and was part of the squad for the 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Known for his reliable glovework and useful lower-order contributions, particularly in the shorter formats, he has also featured in various T20 franchise leagues.
Siblings
Lorcan has two brothers, both of whom have also played cricket.
His younger brother Fiachra Tucker shared the field with him in the 2016 Ireland Under-19 World Cup squad.
During that tournament, Lorcan scored a notable 57 in a group-stage match against India, a performance that drew attention from then-India Under-19 coach Rahul Dravid.
Donncha Tucker is his other brother and is likewise a cricketer.
The brothers were introduced to the game together by their father at Pembroke Cricket Club, and the family background has been a consistent influence on Lorcan’s development.

He earned an emerging player contract in 2019 and was among the first group of players to receive full central contracts from Cricket Ireland in 2020, later securing further multi-year deals.
His ODI debut came against England on 3 May 2019, and he made his Test debut against Bangladesh on 4 April 2023.
Domestically he has been a mainstay for Leinster Lightning in Ireland’s inter-provincial competitions since his List A and first-class debuts in 2017.
He has also appeared in franchise T20 competitions, including stints with Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Lahore Qalandars, MI Emirates in the ILT20, and other sides such as Paarl Royals and Gulf Giants.
Across formats he has accumulated substantial experience, with strong showings in T20Is where he has been a consistent contributor, solid ODI performances, and an impressive start in Test cricket that included a century on debut series.
He has represented Ireland in major events including T20 World Cups.
Accolades
Tucker was Ireland’s leading run-scorer at the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, highlighted by an unbeaten 71 against Australia and useful contributions in other matches.
In a 2021 T20I series against the USA in Lauderhill he produced key innings of 57 not out and 84, helping secure the series and earning player-of-the-series recognition.
On his Test debut series against Bangladesh in 2023 he scored a maiden century of 108, becoming one of the early Irish players to reach three figures in the format and the second Irishman overall to do so at the time.
He has recorded multiple half-centuries across formats, received central contracts reflecting his status as a core national player, and established himself among Ireland’s more productive wicket-keeper batters.
