A suspected love triangle turned deadly in Nairobi’s Fuata Nyayo estate after a man was fatally stabbed during a confrontation over a woman.

The victim, identified as Boniface Mirongo Ombiro, died while undergoing treatment at South B Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest during a fight on Thursday morning, police said.

Police said the incident occurred at around 9.30 a.m. in the Kwa Maureen area of Fuata Nyayo.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect, a casual worker at Mutsi Motor Company along Dar es Salaam Road, and the deceased were both reportedly involved in a relationship with a woman identified only by her alias, “Sibanduki,” from Majengo.

The two men reportedly confronted each other before a fight broke out. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Ombiro on the left side of the chest.

The injured man was rushed to South B Hospital but succumbed to his injuries at about 11 a.m. while receiving treatment.

Police said the suspect attempted to flee after the attack but was arrested along Lusaka Road and taken to South B Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment.

Police officers recovered the kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack at the scene.

The body of the deceased remains at South B Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

The scene was processed by officers from South B Police Station, including the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), detectives from the Makadara Sub-County criminal investigations unit and other police officers. Investigations are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Kilifi County launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was found lying in a pool of blood beside a road in the Mibuyu Saba area.

The gruesome discovery was reported at about 3.20 a.m. on Thursday by a resident, prompting officers from Kilifi North Police Station to respond.

Police found the body of an unidentified African male adult lying beside the road with multiple deep cuts to the head. The body was covered in blood, indicating the victim may have been attacked at or near the scene.

Crime scene investigators documented and processed the area before the body was moved to the Kilifi County Referral Hospital mortuary pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, the motive behind the killing and those responsible. No arrests had been made by Thursday.
