A man was electrocuted in an incident in Keroka, Nyamira County.
The body of John Omoso, 70 was found lying next to a Kenya Power and Lighting stay wire long after he had died.
Kenya Power officials were called to the scene and confirmed the stay wire had power leakage and had caused the electrocution.
This prompted a probe on how the power was leaking to the wire. They are thought to be safe as they do not touch the power cables.
The victim is thought to have leaned on the wire leading to the death. The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
A stay wire is a high-tensile, galvanized steel cable used to stabilize vertical structures like utility poles, telecommunication masts and towers.
Electrocution cases have been on the rise in both rural and urban areas in an alarming rate amid efforts to address the trend.
