Police in Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County, Murang’a County, are pursuing three suspects involved in a shooting incident at a quarry in Gatwikira location.

The incident occurred on April 13 at Kwa Diana Quarry.

It is reported that a 27-year-old man accompanied by two other men, confronted another man at the quarry over an alleged debt of Sh100.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

During the scuffle, one of the attackers reportedly drew a pistol and fired three shots at their target. However, all the shots missed the target as he and others present scampered for their safety before they regrouped.

The gunfire attracted other quarry workers, prompting the attackers to flee into a nearby bush before police arrived.

Police responded to the scene and recovered a 9mm bullet head, which has been documented and taken as an exhibit.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, police in Nyatike Sub-County, Migori County, are investigating a suspected drowning incident after the body of a missing fisherman was recovered along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Police said the incident was reported Monday noon by a resident who identified the deceased as his son, Kennedy Kiche Swao, 46, from Konyodhi Village in Lwanda Sublocation.

The deceased had earlier been reported missing after he failed to return home from a fishing trip on April 11, 2026. His boat was later discovered floating unattended in the lake, raising concerns over his whereabouts.

Police established that the body was found floating along the shoreline of Lake Victoria, approximately two kilometres from Luanda Police Post.

A preliminary examination revealed a visible injury on the forehead, though the circumstances leading to the injury remain unclear.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to St. Camillus Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
