Police in Tigania West Sub-County, Meru County, launched investigations into the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found along a murram road in Mwile Village.
The incident was reported at around 1:58 a.m. on Thursday, police said.
Police visited the scene and identified the deceased as Joseph Kithela.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had, at around midnight, been involved in an argument with an unidentified along the road, approximately 60 metres from a shop.
The shopkeeper told police he heard someone running before suddenly falling outside his shop.
When he went to check, he found the man already dead.
Police noted that the body had no visible physical injuries, leaving the cause of death unclear at this stage.
The scene was processed and documented, and the body was moved to Miathene Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The case is under investigation by DCI Tigania West, with officers seeking to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify the person involved in the earlier altercation.
Elsewhere, police in Kabras East Sub-County, Kakamega County, have launched investigations into the murder of a young man found with fatal stab wounds at Kambi ya Mwamza Centre.
The deceased was identified as Kelvin Masinza Litonde.
The father told police that the body was discovered at about 6:00 a.m., lying lifeless with two stab wounds—one on the left side of the chest and another on the head.
Police officers, together with crime scene investigators from Kakamega, visited and processed the scene as part of ongoing investigations.
The body was later moved to Kakamega Orthopedic Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
