Police in Sameta Sub-County, Kisii County, launched investigations after the body of a man was found dumped by the roadside in Nyamangwa village.

According to police, the incident was reported on Sunday at about 9am after the body had been spotted along the Iigare–Keumbu Road.

Officers from Igare Police Station led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Sameta, visited the scene and established that the body was that of Edwin Muruka Moranga, 38.

Police said Moranga was a resident of Bokimweri village and worked at Igare Shopping Centre at a car wash known as Igare Bridge Carwash, where he washed motorcycles.

The body was found lying on the shoulder of the road along the Igare–Keumbu Road.

A physical examination revealed bruises on the face near the right ear and other injuries at the back of the body believed to have been inflicted before his death by unknown persons.

Police suspect the man was murdered and his body dumped at the scene.

The scene was processed and documented by detectives from DCI Sameta as investigations into the killing continue.
And police in Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County, are investigating a murder incident in which a 45-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by two brothers in Katothya village.

According to police, the incident was reported on Sunday at about 8:30am by members of the public from Katothya village in Katulye Location.

Witnesses told authorities that two suspects identified as Kaliti Muthini and Mutuku Muthini, who are brothers and well known to the deceased, attacked Daud Nzuma with pangas and a blunt object.

Police said the victim sustained three deep cuts on the head, deep cuts on both legs, a cut on the right hand and injuries on the back, leading to severe bleeding.

An eyewitness alleged that after the attack, the suspects dragged the injured man from their compound and dumped him along a footpath.

The suspects reportedly claimed that the deceased had entered their compound with the intention of stealing.

Officers from Masinga Police Station, Masinga Dam Police Post and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Masinga visited the scene and documented the incident.

Police believe the deceased died from excessive bleeding caused by the injuries.

The body was moved to Mbaku morgue for preservation and postmortem examination as investigations continue.
