A 15-year-old Grade Eight pupil was killed after he was shot with an arrow while hunting with a group of teenagers in Kibele area, Baringo County.
The deceased, a pupil at Kimorok Primary School, was reportedly among teenagers hunting in the area on Monday, September 28, 2026, when he was struck by an arrow.
According to police, the incident was reported by the boy’s father and a resident of Kibele Village in Kimalel Location.
Police officers who visited the scene at Enap Kokoyo area and found the boy’s body lying in a pool of blood near a riverbank.
Two bows and eight arrows were found around the body. One blood-stained arrow had no head, while two other arrows were found on the ground a few metres from the body.
Police also observed an injury slightly below the boy’s right ear, where the arrowhead was believed to have lodged.
The body was moved to Baringo Referral Hospital Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish how the teenager was shot and identify the person responsible.
Meanwhile, 53-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Mokoiwa Village, Nandi County, in a suspected murder incident.
The deceased, Edith Vihenda, was allegedly attacked by a known assailant who gained entry into her semi-permanent house through the rear door and strangled her using a rope.
According to police, the body was discovered at about 7:45pm on Monday, September 28, 2026, by her husband after he returned home from Chepsonoi Market, where he sells clothes.
He found his wife’s lifeless body lying on the sitting-room floor and raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to respond.
Police officers from Kaimosi, together with DCI officers from Kapsabet, visited the scene and established that the attacker had also stolen a 43-inch television set and a Zuku decoder.
Investigators observed visible injuries on the deceased’s forehead and jaw, while a piece of rope believed to have been used in the killing was still around her neck.
The scene was documented by the Kapsabet Crime Scene Investigation team before the body was moved to Jumuia Kaimosi Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to identify and apprehend the suspected assailant.
