Police in Kisii County have launched investigations after a 50-year-old man was found dead in his house with both eyes reportedly gouged out.

The body of Henry Morara Nyandoma was discovered on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at his home in Shirikisho area, Kiamwasia Sub-Location, Kitutu Central Sub-County.

Police said the discovery was made by the deceased’s niece, who was passing by her uncle’s house when she peeped through a window and spotted him lying motionless on his bed.

She raised the alarm, prompting police officers from Nyanchwa Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kitutu Central Sub-County and Crime Scene Investigation officers from the Kisii County office to visit the scene.

Nyandoma’s body was found lying on his bed with both eyes missing, in circumstances that detectives are treating as a suspected murder.

The deceased was reportedly living alone and was last seen on Thursday, September 3, appearing normal and in good health.

Investigators documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Detectives from DCI Kitutu Central Sub-County have taken over the investigation as they seek to establish how Nyandoma died, who was responsible and the motive for the suspected killing.

And a 54-year-old man was found murdered and his body dumped along a footpath in Nyamagenga village, Kuria East, Migori County.

Police said the body of Zablon Nyangi Magoiga was discovered on September 5, 2026.

The officers found the deceased lying in a pool of blood along a footpath.

Police said the victim had sustained six deep cuts to the head, while three fingers on his right hand—the index, middle and ring fingers—had been chopped off.

Police processed the scene for evidence as detectives commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The motive for the murder and the identity of the assailants were not immediately established.

The body was moved to the Wima Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Detectives are expected to use evidence recovered from the scene and the post-mortem findings to establish how the 54-year-old was killed and identify those responsible.
