Detectives are investigating an incident where a man was found dead in his car in the Mirema area, Kasarani, Nairobi.

The family of the deceased man identified as Kevin Onoka said he had arrived home on Sunday night and said he was resting in the car. He locked the car and slept.

On Monday morning, he was found lying unresponsive in the car. His body was found on the driver’s seat with no physical injuries, police who were called to the scene said.

This was after they broke into the car. The police suspect he suffocated in the car.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in Chemelil, Kisumu County, a 13-year-old girl drowned in the Nyando River.

The incident happened in Geyo village on Monday evening as the girl went to the river with others to swim.

The river drains to Lake Victoria and is usually swollen at that point. According to the family and the police an alarm was raised and the body was later retrieved from the water and taken to a local mortuary pending other procedures.

And a decomposed body of a man who had been missing was found in his house after a suspected suicide mission in Mau Narok, Nakuru County.

The man had not been seen since December 25, 2025. A bad smell emanating from his house disturbed the neighbours who called the police. Police said they broke the door and found the swollen and decomposed body hanging on a truss with a rope tied around its neck. He was identified as Joseph Kimani, 32. The body was discovered on January 5, 2025 which was almost 10 days after he went missing.

The motive of the incident was not known and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said on Tuesday.
