A 30-year-old man was found dead in Gem Yala, Siaya County, in circumstances that have prompted police to suspect he may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene.

The body of Johannes Ogiga was discovered on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sapin area in Got Regea Sub-Location, about five kilometres east of Got Regea Police Post.

According to police, Ogiga had left his home in Uloma A Village on Wednesday at around 4pm but failed to return.

Police officers from Yala Police Station and the Divisional Criminal Investigations team visited the scene and found the body with no visible external injuries, although blood was reportedly oozing from the mouth.

Investigators noted that there were no apparent signs of a struggle or blood stains at the scene, leading them to suspect that Ogiga could have been killed elsewhere before his body was transported to the location.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Yala Level IV Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said.

And a man died at Nyansiongo Mission Hospital in Nyamira County after allegedly sustaining serious head injuries during an assault.

Police said Ibrahim Omoke was taken to the hospital by members of the public on Monday, October 5, 2026, at around 7:30pm alongside another man, following an alleged physical altercation between the two.

Omoke, however, had suffered head injuries and was admitted for treatment. His condition later deteriorated and he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

His body was moved to the hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.
