A man was rushed to the hospital on Monday afternoon following a stupefying incident in Gatanga, Murang’a County.

Police said the victim was stupefied elsewhere, driven to the area, and dumped there.

Locals said they found him lying unconscious in Thika Greens area. Police said they were working to identify the victim and trace his last movements.

A team visited the Thika Hospital, where the victim was admitted, and said he was gaining consciousness. Doctors said he had taken huge amounts of drugs that affected him.

Stupefying has been on the rise in the area. Police said they were pursuing leads on the possible suspects behind the incident.

Such cases of stupefying have been on the rise in some clubs in and around Nairobi.

In some unfortunate incidents, victims of stupefying have lost their lives after being heavily drugged, hence the need to exercise caution and always party around known friends who would have your back in case of such danger, police say.

Last week, Mombasa Urban detectives arrested one Abdallah Suleiman, aka Asuu, a notorious drink-spiker who has been on the police radar for a while.

Detectives had been on his trail after a series of stupefying and stealing cases were reported at Mombasa Central Police Station.

Asuu is the mastermind behind drugging unsuspecting passengers travelling to Mombasa, Kisumu, Tanzania and beyond, then robbing them of their hard-earned cash and valuables while they snooze.

But his luck ran out at the Mariakani Weighbridge, where sharp-eyed detectives boarded a Nairobi-bound bus and ended his drugged-up heist spree.

Inside his bag of tricks, detectives found Lorivan two tablets, soft drinks, and snacks believed to be laced with sedatives, all ready for his next unsuspecting victims.

Police advise revelers to avoid dining with strangers in social places as part of efforts to address the menace.
