Three suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man in Nchiru, Tigania, Meru County.

The deceased was identified as Joseph Kabiti and the incident happened in the Ntori area, police said.

The body was found lying on his bed long after he had been killed.

It had a deep cut on the back of his head, police said. This prompted an investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

In Bonyunyu, Nyamira County, a woman was fatally assaulted at a home in a domestic feud.

Police said Annah Nyaboke Kamanda was found frail in a house she was detained by the said assailants a day after her attack.

She was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to the injuries on December 28, police said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. The hunt on the suspected assailants continued on Monday, police said.

And a baby was killed in a fire incident in Dandora, Nairobi.

Police said the two-year-old girl was killed in the fire incident that affected two houses and a church near them.

Police said the mother of the baby had gone to see a tailor in the area and when she came back she found the house on fire. Locals joined in efforts to contain the spread of the fire which had destroyed the house and a section of the iron sheet made church.

The remains of the girl were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere, a suspect bit and seriously injured a police officer as he was being arrested in Ngara, Nairobi.

A group of men had attacked and robbed a man of his mobile phone. He raised an alarm alerting police on patrol.

It was then that the police moved to action and arrested a suspect in the robbery. The suspect turned on one of the officers and bit his right hand at the posterior area.

Other officers managed to detain the suspect and later took the injured officer to the hospital.
