A 30-year-old man was found murdered on Wednesday and his body abandoned on the roadside in Ombeyi, Miwani area, Kisumu County.

The motive of the murder of Samson Otieno was not immediately known, police said, adding his body was found lying in the Onyarobiro area.

The body had stab wounds in the chest and other multiple injuries. Police said no arrest had been made and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And police in Mukurweini, Nyeri County arrested a murder suspect who has been on the run for the past year.

The suspect was arrested in Kagaa, Olkalou area following intelligence he was hiding there. This was in connection with the January 1, 2025 murder of the suspect’s wife identified as Jane Wanjiru Mutahi, 27 in Mwambao village, Themu location.

Her body was found in a family well after the suspected murder. The suspect was arrested on January 6 following the operation by detectives who were pursuing the matter.

Police said he was expected to take a plea for murder.

In Ekerenyo, Nyamira County, police arrested three suspects over the murder of a man who had been accused of burglary.

The three were accused of fatally beating up one Otito Omayio, 30 on January 7 in the area. Police said the three will face murder charges.

This comes as authorities move to investigate mob lynching incidents that have been on the rise in parts of the country.

For instance, a 35-year-old man was lynched by a mob after being accused of being a livestock thief in Got Matar, Bondo, Siaya County. A group was found driving three bulls which had been stolen from a home when an alarm was raised. Three other men escaped but Abel Awalo, 35 was stoned to death. A salon car that the men had, a Toyota Townace was burnt to ashes in the drama.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the January 7 incident.
