Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found lying on the roadside in Kamaguta area, Muranga County.

The man was identified as Peter Ngugi, 60. His body was found in Gaturi village on April 27 night long after his murder.

Upon physical examination, the body had a visible deep cut wound on the right side back of the head. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Sigomere, Ugunja, Siaya County, a man was found dead on the roadside after suspected murder.

Police said the discovery was made on Tuesday morning by local bodaboda riders.

The body had a deep cut on the head which had been inflicted by a sharp object and was identified as Patrick Were, 31 before it was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said.

Meanwhile, three people died in separate drowning incidents in Kisii, Kiambu and Kakamega, police said. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy after the Monday incidents.

And a 41-year-old woman died in an electrocution incident in Kapenguria, West Pokot County.

Police said Jane Wamalwa was electrocuted as she aired her clothes on an electric wire.

She was hit and died on the spot. Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls for caution when handling live wires.

Kenya Power and Lighting has been running campaigns to address the menace. Officials blame illegal power connections and use of quacks for the deaths.

And a miner was killed after a shaft collapsed in Kopolo, Bondo, Siaya County. The man had ventured into the shaft for draining of water from the scene when the incident happened on April 27, police said.

He was identified as Calvin Omondi, 38. The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
