    Man killed by brothers in land dispute in Trans Nzoia

    A 53-year-old man was attacked and killed in a land dispute in the Sikhendu area, Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.

    Police said Shadrack Maruti was attacked by his two-step brothers who were joined by their mother, following a dispute over land ownership.

    The incident happened in Weonia area on June 9. The assailants fled the scene after the attack as the victim was rushed to hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

    Following the spread of the news the victim had died, villagers raided the home and burnt a house belonging to one of the suspects.

    They also vandalized other houses there before they fled. Police who were alerted of the incident arrived there minutes later but found the damage had been done.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations. The hunt for the suspects linked to the murder is ongoing, police say.

    Such murder incidents are on the rise in villages amid campaigns for parties to solve them amicably.

    In Lwakhakha area, Bungoma, a man was killed and his body dumped on the roadside. The body of George Oduori, 45 was found with a deep stab wound in the chest.

    He worked as a herdsman in one of the homes there and was last seen on June 8 before his body was discovered. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy. No arrest has been made so far.

    Elsewhere in Kathwana, Tharaka Nithi County, one Cosmas Muthomi Mitugo, 43 was clobbered to death over a misunderstanding on beer bills.

    The victim was rushed to Kanjuki Health Centre with serious head injury and referred to Chuka Level Four Hospital but was confirmed dead upon arrival.

    The body was booked at the Chuka Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

    In Tala, Machakos County, Innocent Wambua, 33 was found dead on a pathway after a suspected murder. Police said the body was found on the Misuuni-Kathithiama road on Tuesday.

    The cause of the death is yet to be known. Police said the body had fresh and visible injuries around the private parts.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
