    Man killed in a fire incident in Embu

    A 94-year-old man was found dead in a house after he had been burnt in a fire incident in Gachoka, Embu County.

    Police said Murage Ndaru was alone in the house when the fire broke out on February 18. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

    In Karau, Embu County, the body of a man was found in Gitika village after a suspected murder.

    He was later identified as Simon Nyaga, 69. The police said his motorcycle was found next to the body as they moved it to the mortuary.

    In Thiba, Kirinyaga County, police are investigating an incident where a man was beaten up and lost six teeth in a dispute over Sh700. The victim told police a woman known to him and who he owed the money called a group of men to beat him up.

    He also sustained head injuries before being taken to hospital for medical attention.

    Police said they were looking for the suspected assailants in the case

    And two motorcycles that had been stolen from a credit facility office in Ugunja Town, Siaya County were found abandoned in a forest in Ambira area.

    Police said they were covered with leaves when they were recovered on February 18. The motorcycles were stolen from Watu Credit offices on February 13 during an incident where a guard was murdered.

    Police said no arrest had been made over the incident.

    And a female miner died at a gold mining site in Kehancha, Migori County.

    Police said Veronica Mosoba, 35 was among a group of miners at the site when a wall caved in trapping her fatally.

    She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said they are investigating the incident which is the latest to happen in the gold mining business.

    There are calls for safety measures to be put in place at the sites.
