Police in Tigania Central Sub-County, Meru County, are investigating a suspected murder incident in which a man allegedly killed his wife before fleeing.

The incident was reported on May 2, 2026, at Kithiru Village in Anjuki Location, Anjilo Sublocation, police said.

According to police the suspect is alleged to have attacked and killed his wife, Fridah Kirito, aged about 30.

Police officers who responded to the scene found the victim’s lifeless body lying on a bed in a pool of blood.

She had sustained multiple stab wounds to the head, below the left eye, and on the right arm above the elbow.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the killing may have been triggered by a domestic dispute.

The scene was processed and documented by police before the body was moved to the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

No murder weapon was recovered, and the suspect remains at large. Police have launched a manhunt as investigations continue.

Elsewhere, police in Kitui Central Sub-County are investigating a murder and robbery incident in which a bodaboda rider was killed and his motorcycle stolen.

The incident was reported at around 6:20 a.m. on May 2, 2026, after a fellow rider, George Mutia, discovered the body while heading to Manyenyoni area on the southern outskirts of Kitui town.

According to the report, the witness had been ferrying a passenger at about 4:00 a.m. when he came across the lifeless body of Mwanzia Mutia, a 39-year-old rider, lying on a pathway with blood pooled around his head.

Police officers who responded to the scene confirmed that the deceased had sustained two deep cuts on the right side of the head.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was attacked and robbed of his motorcycle.

Detectives believe the rider may have been attacked by a passenger he had picked up.

The scene was processed and the body moved to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects and have recovered parts of the motorcycle’s tracking system in the Mulutu area, about 14 kilometres southwest of Kitui town.

    Investigations are ongoing.
