    Man strangled to death in fight between brothers over piece of land in Mukurweini

    A dispute between two brothers over a piece of land in a village in Mukurweini, Nyeri County turned fatal when one of them was fatally strangled.

    The incident happened on February 17 in Wamutitu village, Murunduini sub-location police said adding Patrick Mwaniki, 53, was strangled in the drama.

    This was after he had slashed 200 coffee plants, 60 stems of bananas, 60 trees and ten yams on a piece of land. He then confronted his brother, prompting a fight.

    Police said the deceased first hit and wounded his brother in the arm before the victim retaliated and strangled him to death.

    The brother was arrested for questioning over the incident as a machete used in the drama was recovered and kept as an exhibit

    Such murder incidents have been on the rise in villages amid efforts to solve them.

    Elsewhere in Subuiga, Meru County, one Sydney Nyaga, 40 was found killed and body abandoned on the roadside The body had multiple injuries. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    In the same area in Imenti North, one Christopher Gathure, 22 was found murdered with visible injuries in the neck. Police suspect he was strangled.

    The motive was not immediately known.

    In Mlolongo, Machakos County, one Brian Mbithi, 30 was found dead after suspected murder.

    The body had head injuries and lay a few meters from his residence. It was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    And police arrested a wanted murder suspect in Gate, Nyandarua County.

    Police said he was hiding at a home when he was arrested and will be arraigned as soon as investigations are completed. Murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them. Police say most of the incidents are linked to love triangles and land disputes.
