A man surrendered to police confessing he had murdered his wife at their matrimonial home in Bungoma County.

The man walked to the Busia police station, more than 100 kilometers away from the primary scene and told police he had killed his wife Metrine Wandera, 25 over claims he found her in a love triangle with another man on their matrimonial bed on February 11, 2026.

The man in the saga managed to escape the scene. The assailant told police he bludgeoned the wife before escaping in fear of being attacked by a mob.

Police in Busia detained him pending interrogation and other procedures. He was later moved to Bungoma pending arraignment. An autopsy was planned on the body of the woman.

And police identified the body of a man whose body had been found abandoned on the roadside in Mabariri, Nyamira County.

He was identified as Anthony Gai, 37 who was a boda boda rider in the area. The motive of the murder which happened February 11, 2026 was not immediately known.

The body was preserved at a local mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police in Gakawa, Nyeri County, a boda boda rider was found murdered and his body abandoned on the roadside. Police said his motorcycle was missing when the body was discovered on February 12.

The police suspect he resisted the robbery of his motorcycle which prompted the assailants to kill him. The body had two stab wounds in the chest and was identified as Erick Muchoki Muriuki.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Such incidents of fatal attacks on riders have been on the rise amid calls on the victims to cooperate with the attackers for their own safety.

Police investigations show most of the stolen motorcycles are refurbished and sold elsewhere to unsuspecting buyers. A team of detectives is investigating the trend, police headquarters said.
