Police in Meru are searching for a man accused of hacking his wife to death during a domestic dispute.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the couple had a heated argument before the tragic incident, though the exact cause remains unclear.
The murder was reported on Sunday by Igembe South Assistant Chief Ikuua after the 45-year-old woman’s body was found dumped under a culvert along the Therone-Kiuma murram road. Witnesses said the couple had been seen arguing while heading home from Therone market.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Miriti, is believed to have attacked his wife with a panga under the cover of darkness, inflicting fatal neck wounds before fleeing.
Residents woke up to a gruesome scene, discovering the woman’s lifeless body soaked in blood.
“The suspect is still in hiding, but no effort or resource will be spared until he is brought to justice,” police said.
