A matatu driver was found dead after a suicide mission in Mutuini, Dagoretti, Nairobi County.

The man used a rope to hang himself at a farm near Kirigu Police Station on Monday, August 18, evening. The motive of the incident is yet to be known, police said.

Police said Samuel Kibe, 45, had left his house in the morning carrying a rope and told his wife he was going to work. He was a matatu driver in the Ndunyu area.

His body was later found hanging from a tree with a rope tied around his neck. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police say there is a spike in suicide cases in the country amid efforts to address the menace. Up to three cases are reported daily, which officials term as alarming.

Elsewhere in the Maili Saba area, Trans Nzoia County, a body of a man was found in a trench in a local railway station after a suspected murder.

Police said the body of Julius Wainaina, 43 had no visible injuries or any signs of strangulation. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

In Rabuor, Kisumu County, one Barack Onyuka, 80 was found dead after he was attacked by his younger brothers in a fight over land.

Police said the body had injuries on the left arm, head and back.

His son was stabbed and seriously wounded as he attempted to rescue him from the attack, police and witnesses said adding he was rushed to the hospital.

Villagers responded and attacked the two brothers, seriously wounding them. Police came to their rescue and rushed them to the hospital under watch.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigation.

This is the latest such murder to happen in the region amid surging such incidents related to land disputes.

Police say the cases are on the rise amid calls for parties to solve their differences amicably. Some of the cases are pending under probe, police say.
